Another interesting Barrett Jackson find we recently had the pleasure of inspecting was a BMW M6 that had seen better days. From the outside, it was obvious that this beauty had been in an accident, with damage to the rear bumper and spoiler. But as we delved deeper, we found that the frame rails were still in good shape and the body was surprisingly straight with correct factory body gaps and a consistent paint job.
Then Things Got Interesting!
It was when we popped the hood that things got a little... interesting. The engine bay showed signs of a complete rebuild, with the valve cover sporting some vintage BMW racing colors, which we have to admit, we quite liked. However, the rest of the engine bay was a different story. The oil filter housing and power steering reservoir had been given a chrome makeover, which was definitely a weird choice. And to top it all off, the previous owner had decided to use "M Themed" zip ties instead of factory fasteners, a touch we would expect to see on a neglected Honda Civic, not a vintage BMW.
Despite all the quirks in the engine bay, the interior of this M6 was surprisingly well-preserved and in good condition. And let's not forget, it's still an S38 powered, 5-speed manual BMW, a car that every driving enthusiast should experience at least once in their life. So, even with its mishmash of styles, we still love this BMer, flaws and all.
