This 1959 Custom Corvette is epic, it is powered by an LS7 v8 that has been fully custom-built and mated to a 6L90E Paddle Shift Transmission. The car is on airbags and sits flush to the ground, with its roughly 9-inch chassis stretch, this car looks like no other C1 Corvette you have ever seen.
No custom car is complete without an over-the-top paint job, and this was no different, finished in a deep black paint this car presented many difficulties with detail. Show car paint is extremely soft and notoriously difficult to finish. This car debuted at SEMA in 2017 and has been on various shows around the country since then. The car showed signs of being loaded and unloaded from trailers as well as wipe-down marks from the multiple shows it had attended.
As the car had multiple blemishes on the top surfaces, I decided to use a foam cutting pad along with a cutting compound to remove any deeper defects from the surfaces that had been wiped down over and over. After doing a light cut on the top surfaces the paint was left looking dull and faded, however, the deeper scratches and marks had been removed and reduced by this point. The paint then received a full polish with a soft foam pad to remove the marring and bring out the gloss and depth of color in the paint. We finished the detail by hand applying a coat of Carnauba wax.
